New PDP/APC alliance: No deal, declares Lamido
…Says our position remains the same
From ISMAIL OMIPIDAN, Kaduna
Contrary to media reports that the Kawu Baraje-led faction of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, otherwise known as nPDP, may have entered into an agreement with the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of 2015, a leading member of a faction of the ruling party and Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido has said that there was no such an arrangement.
Lamido, who made this known when Saturday Sun contacted him to find out if such a deal ever existed, also said that the group’s position remains the same, insisting that “nobody is moving out” of the PDP.
He was, however, quick to add that the group would fight the injustice within the party to its logical conclusion, insisting that APC was never part of their demands, as submitted by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Obasanjo had attempted to mediate at the onset of the crisis.
“Our position remains the same. Former President Obasanjo submitted our demands, APC was not part of the demand. Nobody is moving out.
“I want to say that the PDP is owned by members of the party. We will continue to fight manipulation, intimidation and imposition. I will fight imposition either by Jonathan or Bamanga Tukur. There is no hesitation on the fact that I belong to the Baraje faction of the PDP. And we will continue this struggle until justice, fairness and due process take the centre stage in the party,” the Jigawa governor added.
