who stated this during a get together of the party stake holders held
recently in his country home, Amaifeke in Orlu local government area of
Imo state, appealed to the people of Orlu zone to embrace the party.
He
stressed that the time is ripe for Ndigbo to play politics of relevance
to enable them get power at all levels of governance, adding that they
should discard the insinuation that APC is Hausa/Yoruba party and not
for the people of Eastern states.
While
urging them to ensure that they come out enmasse and register with the
new party during registration period, the former Governor emphatically
stated that APC is the only party in Nigeria that can deliver the
dividends of democracy to the grassroots going by its antecedents in the
country.
According
to him, it is only APC that can free them from political slavery which
they have long been subjected to, pointing out that the party has come
to stay, no matter the propaganda and unfounded rumours about the party.
Udenwa
went on to say that the essence of the formation of the party is to
ensure that they get power at all levels, especially at the grassroots.
On
Igbo presidency, the soft spoken former Imo Chief executive opined that
it is very possible but that they should work hard to actualize it in
no distant time.
He
said that the Igbos should not fold their hands waiting for the
position to come to them but should strategize on how to join forces
with other ethnic groups to achieve it.
In
their separate speeches, Dr Vincent Udokwu, former Chief of Staff to
the Governor and Commissioner for Health and Engineer Nwaizu former
Executive Chairman of Orlu local government area harped on the need for
the people of Orlu and entire Imo state to embrace the APC in their own
interest.
