Just
as the Nigerian Military authorities are dismissing the latest videos
of an impostor claiming to be Imam Abubakar Shekau, the dreaded leader
of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnah Lid-da’awati Wal Jihad otherwise known as
Boko Haram, another clip surfaced yesterday purportedly showing the sect
leader brandishing assorted weapons which he claimed his fighters
seized from Nigerian troops during their encounters.
The purported leader did not give details on the number of weapons allegedly seized by his foot soldiers, even as he boasted in the video again that he is alive and commandeering the activities of his group, which he said is fighting for the establishment of Sharia legal system in Nigeria.
Unlike the previous video footage seen where he was surrounded by fighters brandishing AK-47s and decked in military fatigue with masks covering their faces, Shekau was shown sitting alone in military fatigue, talking while the seized weapons are shown intermittently.
“We have waged war against the unbelievers and emerged victorious. We have seized their weapons, so many of them. We would keep on fighting, no going back, no retreat and no surrender,” he said.
