Stop Exposing Your Children To S*xual Predators For Imaginary ‘Spiritual Cleansing’ – Fayemi’s Wife Warns Parents

Stop Exposing Your Children To Sexual Predators For Imaginary ‘Spiritual Cleansing’ – Fayemi’s Wife Warns Parents

Wife of Ekiti State governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, has cautioned parents against exposing their girl-child to s*xual predators while seeking imaginary spiritual cleansing, otherwise known as deliverance.

Wife of Ekiti State governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi
She said many under-aged girls have unwittingly become s*x slaves while being held captive by the so-called religious leaders, leading to pregnancy and fatal abortions.
The First Lady disclosed these at a stakeholders’ forum on the prevention of teenage pregnancy, organized by the Women Health and Action Research Centre, in collaboration with the Ekiti Development Foundation, in Ado-Ekiti, on Tuesday.
Erelu Bisi Fayemi said, “When you send your girl-child to all these spiritual homes for imaginary deliverance, they become exposed to illicit s*x by the so-called religious leaders expected to ‘deliver’ or heal them.
“While I will not cast aspersions at any religion, I want to charge you parents to learn to intercede on your children’s behalf. Who says your prayers will not be answered if you closet yourself and pray to God.
These s*xual predators masquerading as religious leaders carry out all sorts of unprintable stunts in the name of cleansing. In the end they end up impregnating these girls.”
She called for concerted approach to stem the tide of teenage pregnancy in the country to safeguard the well-being and future of the girl-child.
In this regard, the governor’s wife said parents, traditional institutions, religious bodies, educational institutions, the judiciary, law enforcement agencies and members of each community had a role to play.
With hindsight, she said young girls are being exploited by paedophiles and sometimes their peers owing to ignorance, neglect, negligence and poverty, particularly among parents.
The governor’s wife promised to continue to collaborate with other institutions to invoke the provisions of the Child Rights Law already in operation in the state to curb the trend of teenage pregnancy.
She reminded the gathering that it was a punishable offence for a man to have s*xual intercourse with a girl under the age of 18 years, not minding the usual claim of mutual consent by the perpetrators.
She added, “In Ekiti state and in a couple states in Nigeria, we have the Child Rights Law and under the provision of the law, s*xual intercourse with a girl under the age of 18 is child r*pe.
If an older man has s*xual intercourse with a girl less than 18 years, the man needs to be arrested to face charges of child r*pe.
The present administration in Ekiti will not allow the lives of our youths to be wasted as a result of teenage pregnancy.”
The governor’s wife noted that empowerment and increased sensitization of women and education of the girl-child was paramount to curbing the incidence in the state.
Calling on school authorities to keep close tabs on the girl-child, she said that they would henceforth be held liable for any reported case of s*xual assault against the girl.
Similarly, she said any teacher found to have sexually violated a school girl would be summarily dismissed from the system if found guilty by a disciplinary panel.
She also expressed worry at the manner fathers abandoned their responsibilities to their children and wives, which she said contributed to over exposure of girls to s*x.
Advising against stigmatization of victims of teenage pregnancy, the First Lady said that government would put a programme in place to enable teenage mothers to continue their education after child birth.

LOOK glamorous with your weight

LOOK glamorous with your weight

BY CHRISTY ANYANWU
Being overweight doesn’t mean you can’t look fabulous! Looking good is notaboutthesizeof your clothing, but about dressing your- self in a way that makes you feel comfortableandflattering your features. Here are a few tips:
Wear well-fitted undergar- ments
It’s hard to look good when you’re wearing flimsy underwear that doesn’t support your weight. Trendy women should buy bras that fit. Not only will a good bra lift your figure and make you look younger, it’ll also help you avoid backaches.
Know the basics
The colors, cut and patterns you wear can attract people’s attention toward or away from your figure. Dark colors hide, while light colors highlight. Big patterns will make you look bigger, while small patterns can make you look smaller.
Get textiles and size that flatter your bottom half
If you tend to carry your weight on your hips and legs (that is, you’re pear- shaped),seek out tailored skirts and trousers. Avoid flared pants and wide- legged trousers. If you’re shopping for askirt,youcan’tgowrongwithanA- line cut. Avoid pencil skirts.Buy at least one pair of well-fitted jeans. Skinny or straight-legjeansinadarkwashlook great.Be very careful with leggings. For some women, a long shirt or dress with leggings is a slimming and fashionable look. However, if you have larger hips, thighs, or bottoms, it can look awful.
Dress to flatter your top half
If you tend to carry your weight around your stomach and shoulders (or you’re “apple-shaped”), skip spa- ghetti-straps or halter tops. You’ll want your shirt to cover your bra straps, and they might be wide.
Accessorize
Big handbags can make you look smaller, as they do not look tiny next to you.Two or three chunky bangles will make a plump wrist appear slen- der. Wearing long dangling earrings elongates the neck.

Patients groan as doctors’ strike continues

Patients groan as doctors’ strike continues

Patients groan as doctors’ strike continues
By GILBERT EKEZIE  and GBENGA
ADESUYI, Ibadan
Three days after the strike action embarked upon by the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), skeletal activities are on at the various government hospitals across Lagos State.
The medical doctors in public health institutions embarked on a 5-day warning strike on Wednesday after the association’s December 2013 National Executive Council Meeting held in Minna, Niger State, calling on the Federal Government to meet its demands, especially on the reconstitution and inauguration of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria within 21 days.
Saturday Sun’s visit to some public hospitals in Lagos showed the presence of medical doctors, but they were not on duty. Some doctors were seen in groups discussing, while patients sat in the various wards, waiting to be attended to.
At the Labour wards, Radiodiagnosis, Medical Outpatient and Outpatients units of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, patients were also attended to by doctors on internship, nurses and other hospital attendants.
A patient, who identified himself as Ogar, expressed surprise that he was attended to despite the strike. “With what I heard about the strike, I did not expect that we would be attended to. But thank God that some of the doctors are giving us attention on compassionate grounds.”
Another patient, Mrs. Olatunji Oke, observed that though patients were being given attention, the treatment was not up to expectation. “You can see that those attending to us are young doctors, nurses and other medical attendants. Though some of the doctors are around, they are not at their duty posts.”
Also at Outpatient departments, pharmacy, dermatology unit, special clinic for the Sexually Transmitted Diseases and the Emergency Unit of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), patients were being attended to, and few doctors were spotted.
A medical doctor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the patients were being attended to due to the nature of their cases. “It is true that we are on strike but we cannot afford to watch these people die, because their cases are so terrible. Some of them cannot live for the next five hours without being given medical attention.”
At the Ajeromi General Hospital, Ajegunle, medical workers were also busy attending to patients.
At the Maternity Unit, some pregnant women were on ground to process their ante-natal visitations, while the outpatients were attended to by some of the doctors, nurses and other medical personnel.
The story is also the same at the Isolo General Hospital as patients were attended to, though not as usual.
At the University College Hospital(UCH), doctors were seen rendering skeletal services when the Saturday Sun visited the hospital, even as relatives of patients groan over the development.
Most of the wards in the hospital were empty, as many of the patients had been discharged.
One of the two doors to the emergency unit was under lock  and key while the other was opened.
At the emergency unit, Saturday Sun noticed some nurses wheeling a female patient to one of the wards. The patient was rushed to the hospital for an undisclosed ailment.
At the surgery unit, it was observed that there were no patients but nurses were sitting down unlike the usual days when the unit was usually filled to capacity. At the Pharmacy unit, relatives of patients were seen making payment for drugs.

Top Five Holiday Foods That Promote Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Disease and Premature Death

Top Five Holiday Foods That Promote Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Disease and Premature Death

The conventional media will give you all sorts of stories about which holiday foods are “high calorie” or have too many grams of fat, but it seems no one in the mainstream media is willing to tell you the rest of the story: How to avoid the cancer-causing chemicals, toxic heavy metals, GMOs and artificial ingredients found in holiday foods. We give you the real story on what you truly need to avoid.

1) Artificially colored Christmas cookies
If it’s artificially colored, it’s bad for you. And when it comes to holiday cookies, cakes, muffins and other treats, people have been brainwashed into thinking that Christmas time somehow means all their foods should be inundated with synthetic RED and GREEN dyes.
How do you make a batch of Christmas cookies? You take a regular batch of cookies and you dump a bunch of green food coloring in it. Then you put red sprinkles on top, feed ‘em to the kids and watch them all climb the walls while their parents scramble to find their ADHD medication.
#2) Anything made with vegetable shortening
Aside from the fact that vegetable shortening is loaded with trans fats — recently declared “unsafe for human consumption” by the FDA — it’s also a source of cadmium, a toxic heavy metal with a half life of nearly 30 years in the human body.
Beyond that, nearly all vegetable shortening is made from genetically modified soy, meaning that when you buy foods with vegetable shortening, you are financially rewarding Monsanto.
Virtually all store-bought cookies, pie crusts and other holiday treats are made with vegetable shortening. Check food labels for anything made with “partially-hydrogenated soybean oil” or “vegetable shortening.”
#3) Processed meats made with cancer-causing sodium nitrite
Beware of holiday processed meats — especially the ones that require no refrigeration. Did you ever wonder how they last so long in their plastic packaging without rotting? It’s because they’re blended with sodium nitrite, a cancer-causing chemical that kills bacteria.
Sodium nitrite increases the risk of leukemia, pancreatic cancer, colon cancer, brain tumors and more. It’s found in nearly all holiday season processed meats, including “gift” sausages and other packaged meats.
If you are crazy enough to actually eat some of these meats, make sure you take plenty of vitamin C with it, because vitamin C helps block the formation of cancer-causing nitrosamines from eating sodium nitrite.
#4) Eggnog drinks made with refined sugars
Watch out for holiday eggnog drinks. They will often combine high-fat dairy liquids with liquid sugars. Some don’t even contain eggs, and others are made with high-fructose corn syrup (read the labels to avoid).
Interestingly, the healthiest part about eggnog is the spices. Nutmeg and cinnamon, two spices commonly used in traditional eggnog recipes, are both used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and they both have genuine nutritional value. Unfortunately, most commercial eggnog sold today uses artificial flavors instead of real spices.
If you want to drink eggnog this holiday season, make it yourself! (And don’t forget the rum…!)
#5) Stuffing
Check out the ingredients on many commercially-available stuffing products, and you’ll find monosodium glutamate.
Yep, many stuffing products are stuffed with MSG, a neurological poison that causes neural cell death. If you stuff your face with stuffing, you’re also stuffing your head with an excitotoxin, and that’s not good at all, especially considering all the other brain-killing substances people tend to abuse from now through New Year’s Eve.
Read labels to make sure you don’t buy or consume stuffing made with MSG. Keep your brain cells alive while you got ‘em!
Additional warning on Alcohol + Tylenol
There’s a lot of drinking that goes on during the holidays, and most people don’t realize the extreme danger caused by combining alcohol with Tylenol. It’s astonishing that Tylenol is even sold over-the-counter, given how toxic it is to the liver. Taking Tylenol while drinking alcohol can actually cause permanent liver damage and even death
The bottom line? Protect your health this holiday season. Stay away from foods that contain toxins, and don’t pop pain pills when you’ve had alcohol.
If you play it smart, you can enjoy the holiday and still be alive and healthy to see another year.

Health Benefits of Superfood Moringa

Health Benefits of Superfood Moringa

moringa
Superfoods are substances that provide you with a high dose of nutrition. Oftentimes, these are organic fruits, berries and plants that are packed with vitamins and nutrients that are necessary to keep the body in the highest degree of health possible. One such superfood is moringa.
Moringa: A Brief Introduction
Moringa was first used in North Africa, where it served to feed cattle and people. Native to India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan, this is a plant that is able to contribute to the health of individuals through many of its various parts, including the leaves, flowers, seeds, fruit and bark. Although it originates in the southern regions surrounding the Himalayan Mountains, this plant also grows well in tropical regions around the globe.
Nutritional Value
As a food product, moringa is exceptionally valuable. In fact, Trees for Life, an international charitable organization, has promoted the use of moringa to address malnutrition. The leaves of the tree are brimming with vitamin A, calcium, iron, vitamin C, potassium and protein. As such, this is a wonderful resource for people who are facing food insecurity – as well as those who have access to food but want to improve their nutrition.
Health Benefits
Further research is necessary to solidify the health benefits that moringa offers; however, this superfood is said to impact health in a major way. Some of the concerns that moringa may improve include anemia, asthma, arthritis, constipation, cancer, diabetes, epilepsy, diarrhea, stomach ulcers, gastritis, intestinal ulcers, heart conditions, headaches, high blood pressure, inflammation, kidney stones, thyroid disorders, infections, s*x drive, athlete’s foot, warts, dandruff, snake bites and gingivitis. Additionally, it is said to stimulate immunity and chest milk production.
Is Moringa Safe?
Before adding a new supplement to your diet, it is always important to ensure that you are well aware of any side effects that may be associated with it. The leaves, seeds, and fruit of moringa are considered safe when ingested as part of a well-rounded diet; however, the root should be avoided. The root of the moringa plant, as well as its extracts, may introduce a toxic substance to the human body. This can result in paralysis and may even be fatal, depending upon the circumstances.
It is also important to note that women who are pregnant or who are breastfeeding should not eat moringa or any of its extracts. This plant contains certain chemicals that, when ingested, can induce contractions. In women who are carrying a child, these contractions can lead to miscarriage. The research conducted on women who are breastfeeding with regard to the consumption of moringa is so sparse that it is best for these women to avoid the food altogether to prevent unforeseen side effects in both them and their children.
Moringa: A More Complete Picture
Ultimately, moringa may be a wonderful addition to your current dietary routine. There are so many ways in which this superfood has been said to improve health; therefore, it may be something that you want to consider.

Reasons You Should Take Dinner Before 7pm

Reasons You Should Take Dinner Before 7pm

salad-as-dinner
According to Louis J. Arnone, director of the comprehensive weight control program at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, eating late at night is the equivalent of eating an extra meal. It also elevates triglyceride levels, which are associated with metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance and heart disease.
More reasons to stop eating after 7pm:
If you eat late at night, your body stores the calories instead of burning them off. Weight gain, here we come! On the positive side, when you finish eating dinner before 7pm (assuming you go to bed before 11pm), you give your body time to digest the food you’ve eaten. That in turn means your stomach is not trying to work while you’re sleeping. That means less chance of acid reflux. And of course you’ll sleep better, which leads to better overall health.
Don’t believe that eating after 7pm will make you fat? Just ask Dr. Bob Greene, who works with Oprah. Every time he’s helped her take off the weight, one of the key components is closing up the kitchen at 7pm sharp.
Getting Started:
Even though this is a simple daily change, it’s not easy to do at first – especially if you have an evening snack habit! The best way to approach this change is to keep in mind that it’s just a habit – your body doesn’t need any of those calories.
Get the process started by making sure to eat a well-balanced dinner by 7pm. If you still have cravings later in the evening, you can have a snack – just substitute your regular evening snack with healthy alternatives. For example, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, or blackberries are high in fiber, rich in anti-oxidants, and are quickly digested. Carrot sticks and hummus are also a great substitution.
Finally, make sure not to stay up too late, or the cravings will kick in no matter what you eat!
Directions:
Finish eating by 7pm every evening.
Recommended Frequency:
Every evening. Exceptions include late night romantic dinners.
Expected Benefits
Better digestion
Balances blood sugar
Weight loss
Better sleep
Less chance of acid reflux

6 Common Cancer Symptoms You Shouldn’t Ignore

6 Common Cancer Symptoms You Shouldn’t Ignore

chest
Know your body, recognize when it may be trying to warn you about something, and don’t ignore certain symptoms.
Keep in mind that some of your body’s signs may be more subtle than others. To help you identify which should raise a red flag, here are six of the most common symptoms to look out for and which type of cancer they may be linked to, according to Anita Johnson, MD, FAS, Medical Director of chest Surgical Oncology at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
1. Abdominal bloating/feeling full too quickly, and pelvic pain. If you’re feeling bloated all of the time, seem to feel full quickly (or have difficulty eating), and are experiencing pelvic pressure or abdominal pain, this may indicate ovarian cancer, explains Dr. Johnson. Another sign may be a change in bladder habits, like always having the urge to go to the bathroom. Most of these symptoms can also be caused by other less serious conditions, but if your gut tells you that this is a stark change from how you usually feel, schedule an appointment with your Ob/Gyn immediately.
2. Painful urination, abnormal bleeding after menopause: If you seem to have trouble urinating, or unusual vaginal bleeding or discharge (especially after menopause), this could signify uterine cancer. There are different types of uterine cancer, but the most common type starts in the endometrium, the lining of the uterus—which is why it’s also referred to as endometrial cancer. There’s no test for this disease, so it’s discovered primarily when you experience symptoms, according to the American Cancer Society. Here are some other symptoms to be aware of. Do yourself a favor and get checked out.
3. Depression, unexplained weight loss, and changes in the color of urine and skin. According to Dr. Johnson, depression, if supported by other symptoms such as loss of appetite and weight loss and a “gnawing pain in your abdomen,” often precedes most cases of pancreatic cancer. A tumor or cancer in the pancreas may grow without any symptoms at first, which is why it’s often advanced when first found. Pancreatic cancer is slightly more common in women than in men, and the risk increases with age. Some other early symptoms to be mindful of are dark urine and clay-colored stools, as well as any changes in the color of your skin (particularly if it seems yellowish). If you experience any of the hallmarks of this condition, including any or all of these symptoms, see your physician and discuss, advises Dr. Johnson.
4. Changes in bowel habits and blood in your stool: These signs are often confused with inflammatory bowel disease, but they can actually be early symptoms of colon cancer. If you notice a change in your bowel habits, like diarrhea or constipation that lasts for more than a few days and/or rectal bleeding, dark stools or blood in the stool, this can be a cause for concern. “It can be confusing as to which part of your body the blood may be coming from (e.g. v**ina vs. colon),” acknowledges Dr. Johnson. See your doctor to confirm your symptoms.
5. Skin changes; increase in the size of lymph nodes under the arm. While the warning signs for chest cancer can be different for everyone, the most common ones to look out for are changes in the look or feel of your chest and bosoms, as well as bosom discharge. A lump, hard knot, or ‘thickening’ inside the chest or underarm area can also be indicators. While screening mammography remains the best tool to discover early chest cancers, some other signs that can help identify the cancer early are skin changes. Keep an eye on your skin: Some chest cancers show up as red or thickened skin rather than the expected lump. Look for peeling/flaking of the bosom or redness (pitting) on the skin over your chest. If you notice any other skin changes, like changes in the color, size, shape, or feel of warts, moles, or freckles, you should also see a doctor right away since it may be a melanoma.
6. Hoarseness, shortness of breath, and unexplained shoulder pain. A nagging cough or hoarseness may be a sign of lung cancer, according to Dr. Johnson. Hoarseness can also be a sign of cancer of the voice box (larynx) or thyroid gland. If the cancer is growing, you might have more unusual symptoms like shoulder pain or paralysis of the vocal cords. Warning signs aren’t always there or easy to pick up on, so here are some other symptoms to watch out for.
It’s important to know your own body so you’re more likely to discover changes and react to them faster. If you have symptoms similar to these almost daily for more than two weeks, and they can’t be explained by other more common conditions, document them and take the questions/concerns to your doctor right away. Check out some other early signs of cancer from the American Cancer Society here.
If the cause of your symptoms is cancer, getting it diagnosed and treated early offers you a much better chance of a good prognosis, so stay on top of your health.
