Pay us our law school bursary, Okorocha told

Imo state Students in the Nigerian Law School for the 2012/2013 academic session have expressed sincere gratitude to Governor Rochas Okorocha for paying part of their law school bursary, also prayed the Governor to graciously release remaining sum to enable them fully benefit A press statement signed by comrade Okere Kingdom, the National President of Imo State Students Association of the Nigerian Law School, disclosed that there are 304 Imo state Indigenes in the Nigerian Law School for 2012/2013 academic session.
Comrade Okere Kingdom who was the President of Imo state University Students Union Government in 2010 stated that the sum of N6.8 million released by the Governor to the ministry of education to pay their bursary has been judiciously distributed by the ministry of education to the 304 students.
The youth activist disclosed further that each of them got the sum of N21,800 (twenty one thousand eight hundred) as part of the N50,000.00 (fifty thousand naira) approved for each of them by His Excellency. Comrade Okere equally expressed, sincere gratitude to the permanent secretary, ministry Education and the secretary of Imo state scholarship Board for judiciously distributing the N6.8 million approved by His Excellency.
Like the Proverbial Oliver Twist, the students are soliciting the Governor to graciously release the additional sum of N9.1 million to the ministry of Education for onward distribution to them, noting that the N6.8 million released by the Governor was not sufficient to pay each of the 304 Imo indigenes in the law school, the sum of N50,000 (Fifty thousand).
The soon to become Lawyers also requested the Governor to grant them a date for solidarity visit to officially thank him for paying their bursary. They also solicited, that the Governor hosts their call to Bar Gala night, while also inviting him as Special Guest of Honour during their call to Bar slated to hold on the 26th of Not 2013 at the international conference centre Abuja.
On the plights of Imo indigenes in the law school, Kingdom stated that the bursary will go a long way to ameliorate their suffering. According to him, they are at the critical and final stage of their law school programme and majority of them are poor and indigent and cannot afford to pay their fees.
He said "most importantly, we are all required to travel to Abuja for preliminary preparations towards our CALL TO BAR on the 26th of November. 2013. Such preparations such as call to Bar fees, buying our wigs and gowns, transportation and accommodation etc. are financial burden which majority of us cannot afford to bear", Kingdom stated.
