I don’t receive salary as works commissioner –Aregbesola
FROM BAMIGBOLA GBOLAGUNTE, Osogbo
Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola has declared that he was not receiving salary from the state government for being the state Commissioner for Works and Transport.
Also, Governor Aregbesola said his Deputy, Mrs Grace Tomori, who doubles as
the state Commissioner for Education was not being paid for the extra job.
The governor, who spoke at a public function in Osogbo, said his decision to combine his office with that of the Works Commissioner was to save the state’s resources.
The governor had since the inception of his administration in November 2010 been combining his duties with those of the commissioner for works, while his deputy also minds the responsibilities of the commissioner for education.
Aregbesola said the money accrued to the state was meagre, hence his decision to save some money to execute projects in the state.
He said he decided to sacrifice his time for the service of the state by combining the two offices, adding that similar thing was done by his deputy in the interest of the state.
He urged those insinuating that he was receiving salary as works commissioner to make proper findings on the issue and desist from peddling false rumour about him.
Aregbesola said he would not loose focus in his determination to serve the state with all his strength, despite widespread rumours against him and his administration.
