LOOK glamorous with your weight

LOOK glamorous with your weight

BY CHRISTY ANYANWU
Being overweight doesn’t mean you can’t look fabulous! Looking good is notaboutthesizeof your clothing, but about dressing your- self in a way that makes you feel comfortableandflattering your features. Here are a few tips:
Wear well-fitted undergar- ments
It’s hard to look good when you’re wearing flimsy underwear that doesn’t support your weight. Trendy women should buy bras that fit. Not only will a good bra lift your figure and make you look younger, it’ll also help you avoid backaches.
Know the basics
The colors, cut and patterns you wear can attract people’s attention toward or away from your figure. Dark colors hide, while light colors highlight. Big patterns will make you look bigger, while small patterns can make you look smaller.
Get textiles and size that flatter your bottom half
If you tend to carry your weight on your hips and legs (that is, you’re pear- shaped),seek out tailored skirts and trousers. Avoid flared pants and wide- legged trousers. If you’re shopping for askirt,youcan’tgowrongwithanA- line cut. Avoid pencil skirts.Buy at least one pair of well-fitted jeans. Skinny or straight-legjeansinadarkwashlook great.Be very careful with leggings. For some women, a long shirt or dress with leggings is a slimming and fashionable look. However, if you have larger hips, thighs, or bottoms, it can look awful.
Dress to flatter your top half
If you tend to carry your weight around your stomach and shoulders (or you’re “apple-shaped”), skip spa- ghetti-straps or halter tops. You’ll want your shirt to cover your bra straps, and they might be wide.
Accessorize
Big handbags can make you look smaller, as they do not look tiny next to you.Two or three chunky bangles will make a plump wrist appear slen- der. Wearing long dangling earrings elongates the neck.
