JAFAC foundation promotes culture in Imo
As
Igbo culture and tradition is at the verge of sliding into extinction,
due to negligence on the part of the owners of the culture and
subsequent imposition of foreign culture on the people by modern
technology, JAFAC foundation has rolled out a programme that will
promote the culture and heritage of the Igbos.
In
view of the above, JAFAC foundation a non governmental organization and
an organization that has been in existence for over 25yrs and has been
helping the poor, the needy, widows, orphans, indigent people, the aged
and the sick, recently donated a cultural dance trophy for all the
communities in Orlu senatorial zone.
As
the communities have been competing among themselves, the president of
the foundation and the director general of JAFAC group of companies,
Chief Felix Chidi Idiga revealed yesterday while chatting with
journalists in his country home that the grand finale of the cultural
dance would be tomorrow Saturday 21st of December 2013 at Premier
Primary School.
Idiga
noted that the grand finale would be a clash between the champions from
communities that have so far emerged in the course of the competition,
pointing out that who is who in Imo state and beyond would witness the
occasion while the Governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha would
be the guest of honour.
Sequel
to the desire to better the lives of the youths and give them the
leverage to achieve their God given talents, Chief Idiga revealed that
he has donated a football trophy for youths which will kick off on the
4th of January 2014, adding that the foundation is interested in
developing people, helping the poor and giving the down trodden the
leverage to better their lives.
He
also revealed that the foundation has completed plans to establish
JAFAC international football team through which players in the area and
the state at large would be sent to clubs abroad to better their lives,
adding that Imo youths are talented and needed little push to shine.
The
DG of JAFAC foundation also brought to the fore the on going eye
treatment by a team of eye specialists from abroad and Nigeria as
powered by JAFAC foundation to handle and treat all forms of eye
problems free of charge while calling on the people of Orlu zone who
have eye problems to take the advantage of the programme to treat their
poor sight.
It
is on the note, however that JAFAC foundation empowers 30 men and women
every week in their empowerment programme and recently trained over 100
people in skill acquisition programme bringing the number that were
trained in the skill acquisition programme in recent time to over 600.
In
his words, the DG JAFAC foundation and a philanthropist of note
revealed that over 2,000 people have benefitted from the foundation,
adding that the foundation will not stop in its humanitarian activities
as it has been propagated to help the poor.
It would be recalled that Chief Felix Chidi Idiga recently donated a science building to urban secondary school Umuna.
The
major luster of tomorrow's event is that a popular musician Oba Omega
(Kirikata Master) will be there live to thrill and add glamour to the
traditional music fiesta.
