Empowerment Programme: Orlu youths bomb Uzodinma

Empowerment Programme: Orlu youths bomb Uzodinma

...You're a deceit
...Demand account of SURE-P
By JOHN Meziem
Some youths from Orlu senatorial zone of Imo state have described the recent empowerment programme organized by Senator Hope Uzodinma as a ruse and deceitful.
The youths under the aegis of Orlu Youths Empowerment Initiative (OYEI) in a release availed Weekend Nigerian Horn; alleged that the items and cash which Uzodinma shared to some selected youths in the zone were not provided by him but by Sure-P. According to the release which was signed by Comrade Jeff Nwaka (President); Moses Iwuna (Secretary) and Chukwudi Uzor (PRO); they challenged the Senator to give account of what happened to all that Sure-P has given to the zone since its inception.
“Our attention has been drawn to the empowerment programme that took place on Monday, December 16, 2013 which was organized by Senator Hope Uzodinma.
“At the programme, empowerment items like Buses, Jeeps grinding machines, motorcycles, tricycle, keke, cash and other items were distributed by Senator Hope Uzodinma representing the zone in the senate, to some selected youths from the zone.
“During title programme, Senator Uzodinma did it as part of his own empowerment programme for the youths of the zone, and never gave the hint that the materials and cash used for the programme were provided by Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, SURE-P, and those items and cash should be the share of the youths of the zone from Sure-P.
“It was unfortunate that the Senator never disclosed that the items and cash involved were from Sure-P in line with their empowerment derive across the nation, especially when such information was never disclosed.
“We have also discovered that what the Senator distributed was not up to thirty per cent of what was given for the zone by Sure-P. For instance, in the record at Sure-P, 30 Hummer Buses, 25 Range Rover Jeeps, 700 Tricycle Keke NAPEP, 2000 motor cycles, 5000 bags of rice, 2000 grinding machines, and about N200 million, with other empowerment materials for skill acquisition. But not up to thirty per cent of these items and cash were given out to the youths during the empowerment programme.
“It is also important therefore to state categorically that, the items and cash which Senator Uzodinma shared to some selected youths in the zone were not provided by him but by Sure-P, and we want him to fault this claim, while we publish our findings from Sure-P headquarters.
“It is equally unfortunate that Chief Uzodinma who has been claiming to be Mr. President's point-man in Imo could not tell the people that it was Sure-P that made those items and money available knowing that the presidency introduced the programme to achieve an aim.
“We want to add that it is unfortunate that the Senator should use cash and materials made available by Sure-P for his own empowerment programme for the youths of the Senatorial zone, We challenge Senator Uzodinma to give account of what has happened to all that sure-P has given to the zone since its inception.
“We may be compelled to publish our findings at Sure-P if the need arises without delay. The deceit must stop”.
