Fight Over Air Conditioner Led to Stabbing To Death of a Woman

A woman was fatally stabbed during what her friends say was a dispute over an air conditioner.
Margaret Elizabeth Steer, 56, was stabbed to death Saturday night in a 12th-floor apartment in public housing building at 500 McNab St. N.
Several of her friends told QMI Agency on Sunday she had lent an air conditioner to another woman who had not returned it.
Steer and her boyfriend went to recover the unit and she was killed in the resulting bloody melee, according to Steer’s friends.
“I’m really upset about it. It shouldn’t have happened over an air conditioner,” said Jo Anne Catlano, who has lived in the building for four years.
Catlano said she spoke with her friend, who went by her middle name “Elizabeth” around the building, earlier Saturday evening.
