Reps Minority Leader Lists Grounds For Accepting Kwankwaso, New PDP Members Into APC
L-R GOV. BABATUNDE RAJI FASHOLA, GEN. MUHAMMADU BUHARI & GOV. RABIU MUSA KWANKWASO IN KANO ON THURSDAY
As leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) paid a visit to Kano
state governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso and other governors of the
Abubakar Kawu Baraje-led New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, deputy
minority leader of the House of Representatives, Rep Suleiman Abdurahman
Kawu Sumaila, has affirmed that all Nigerians are welcome into the
party so long as they will uphold the tenets of democracy, rule of law
and justice.
Rep Kawu, who has since declared his intention to vie for the APC
governorship ticket in Kano come 2015, made this known in a statement
issued to newsmen in Abuja.
He also hailed the efforts of the party’s leaders towards expanding the outreach of the party in the country.
“As democrats we welcome all progressive minded persons into the APC
but as a matter of necessity they must honour and respect democratic
tenets and norms which are the cardinal principles that characterized
the APC ideology.
“While I commend our national leaders for the ongoing drive to expand
the tentacles of the party, I also urge them to ensure that they reach
out to all stakeholders in the party especially those that played key
role in the formation of the APC so that everyone is carried along. This
is the sure and only way of ensuring harmony in the party in our
collective struggle towards deepening of democracy in Nigeria,” he
explained.
The deputy chief whip recalled his consistent call against misrule,
injustice and other anti democratic tendencies “of the People’s
Democratic Party (PDP)”, noting that as a member of the APC merger
committee, he is not unaware of such tremendous sacrifice by leaders in
the country.
The lawmaker, however, warned that “If others now have seen the light
of what we are doing, they are welcome and we are happy about it but I
must draw the attention of the APC leaders to know that what has brought
PDP to its knees now is injustice, imposition and impunity which we all
must resist and not allow such to happen in our party”.
